Kaikohe Buskers Day Out
This will be the third time that ‘Passion8’ (the Old Dairy Factory) opens its grounds to welcome in talent from Kaikohe and nearabouts.
Past events have showcased a range of genres and talent – from blue grass, gospel, country, folk and more. A little time out with guitars – electric & acoustic, solo artists, groups and dance.
Kaikohe’s Buskers Day Out is a vibrant mix of all that is good in local art!!
Hosted by the Kaikohe Community Arts Council, the venue is made available by local artist, Jill Reilly, who works with various mediums, including paint and glass. So, I hope that some of her work may be available to view, also.
Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site from the Passion8 Cafe/Tearooms, Azaria’s Food Cart - and more.

THE SESSION (ORIGINAL MUSIC)
So, I have a bias for old buildings with wooden floors. I just love them! So, from the first time I stepped inside the doors at Twin Pines, I felt right at home.
Add to its historic vibe, a stage and Sound Engineer, JR – who works wonders on the sound desk – then, bring in some of Northland’s best singer/songwriters – and the scene is set for a great afternoon out!!
I love this venue and all that they do to support original artists.
The Sessions are tightly run – each artist is up for three songs – then, someone else steps up.
The meals, all cooked on site, are superb!
All of this, right on our back doorstep, in the beautiful Bay of Islands 😊
I often don’t know what I’m going to sing until I get up and take a read of the room, but I love to share songs when they’re new. So, am 90% sure I’ll be sharing two of my latest songs, ‘Virginia, Child’ and ‘We’re Making Music Now’.

ACOUSTIC JAM
So happy to share that the first Acoustic Jam at The Barn in Taipa is this Saturday, 10 January 2025!

The Barn welcomes new and emerging artists. The vibe is supportive, encouraging and authentic. Real people share their real lives.
Starts: 1pm
Expect: Warmth and perhaps an eclectic line-up of talented musos.

JAM & GRAB A MEAL
Join regular artists and bands – perhaps discover someone you haven’t heard before.
Hear my newest songs, ‘Away Hey’, ‘Bring Me Home’, ‘Take A Number’ and ‘Drive’ (which released 30 May 2025).
The Parakao Store is a destination for motor cyclists, classic car enthusiasts and the competitive types who join in Dirt Drags in the summer - and Mud Drags in the wet.
The Store’s owners, Gavin & Jodie Ace, have their own classic cars and they regularly participate in ‘Hillbilly Runs’ – taking classic cars out for a run with friends.
‘Drive’ was written following one of these Hillbilly Runs. A drive that took us over metal roads, past Tane Mahuta and which ended with firelight, as a bunch of us camped down by a river for the night. Magic.
The Parakao Store Jam is like a 6-hour party (give or take). There’s plenty of parking and the venue has an eclectic, rustic vibe.
So, come for the music. And while you’re there, enjoy some of the best home cooked meals this side of the stump!!

'GRIT & GRATITUDE' Live Show with Maggie Cocco
Singer-songwriters Rosie and Maggie come together for an intimate evening of acoustic music exploring themes of gratitude, resilience, and the beauty found through life’s challenges.
An award-winning international artist, Maggie brings songs from across her many projects, carefully chosen to reflect the heart of the theme.
Rosie, a fresh and distinctive voice in the Aotearoa music scene, offers her own moving originals.
Together, they create a bespoke concert where their voices intertwine—singing on each other’s songs, blending styles, and sharing stories of strength and learning.
Warm, raw, and deeply connective, Grit & Gratitude is a celebration of music’s power to carry us through hard times and remind us of what matters most.
